Reflections Hospice prides itself on high-quality care. We were recently recognized with “Hospice Honors” from Deyta, a company that reviews quality scores across the country. We are accredited by The Joint Commission, and patients’ families have rated our services as only 9’s or 10’s (on a scale of 1-10). Our doctors, nurses, hospice aides, social workers, chaplains, and other specialists care for approximately 200 patients a year. The hospice plan of care is coordinated with the patient’s personal physician and developed in collaboration with you and your family. Those desiring hospice services are accepted for care if their physicians believe death is possible within six months. Some patients, however, have continued with us for a year or more.

Our compassionate medical care focuses on managing physical symptoms such as pain, nausea, decreasing appetite, weakness, seizures, and other ailments. We also provide emotional and spiritual support expressly tailored to each individual’s needs and wishes. We support families throughout the care experience and as long as 13 months after the patient’s death.

• Our specially trained staff members visit patients at home or wherever they live to provide services and make them more comfortable.
• We are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to manage physical symptoms such as pain, nausea, and vomiting, as well as emotional symptoms such as anxiety. A registered nurse is available by phone for urgent care needs in consultation with a physician.
• We assist with:
  • personal care such as bathing, dressing, and light housekeeping;
  • handling of insurance and finances;
  • obtaining medical equipment, supplies, and medications related to the illness.
• We educate and train family and friends in caregiving techniques.
• We hold a memorial service each year for those who have died while in hospice care – a meaningful event for family members and the care team who worked with that patient.
• We offer a two-day camp each summer for children who have lost someone who was in hospice.

Medicare and Medicaid provide 100 percent coverage for hospice care, and most commercial insurance plans also have a hospice benefit. Patients are accepted into Reflections Hospice without regard to their ability to pay.

To begin with Reflections Hospice, a patient must have a statement from his or her physician that there is a possibility of death within six months. Once accepted, we continue to provide services until the patient dies, regardless of the time passed.

Reflections Hospice serves residents in Crisp County and the surrounding area within a 40-mile radius. Our staff members live locally, ensuring that we are never very far away. This proximity enables us to arrive at a patient’s home on time.

After intensive training, volunteers provide non-medical services to patients and families, from transportation and errands to respite care and friendship.
