The surgery team works with your physician to provide exceptional, skilled, and compassionate care. In four surgical suites and two endoscopy rooms at Crisp Regional Hospital, nearly 3,000 inpatient, outpatient, elective (scheduled), emergency, and trauma surgeries take place each year. Surgical specialties include:
Robert Fullerton was a successful insurance professional for more than 40 years when he was diagnosed with colon cancer. He had been “healthy as a horse,” but in January 2013, he received the scary cancer diagnosis. He underwent two surgeries at Crisp Regional within one week, followed by a series of chemotherapy treatments.
“Two of my surgeons were friends of mine,” said Robert. “They really care.”
He also realized that many others on his care team were friends and neighbors, and it made him feel confident and comfortable right away. “This is really a great place. I have never experienced better treatment in my life,” reflects Robert.
Shelvia Koontz knows Crisp Regional as an employee, a patient, and an area resident. In her role as director of medical imaging, she has seen Crisp from the inside out, and from the outside in. She has gone to Crisp Regional to work every day for more than 28 years. She’s chosen to have several surgeries at Crisp “because I’m comfortable with the care,” she said. “For example, the infection rates are lower at smaller hospitals.”
A few years ago, Shelvia broke seven bones in an auto accident and was in the hospital for 10 days. “I’ve tried it,” she recalls, “and I know the care is exceptional!”
