Crisp Regional Opens New Surgery Center Designed with Patients in Mind

After more than two years of planning and construction, Crisp Regional Hospital is celebrating the completion of its brand-new Surgery Center, a state-of-the-art addition designed to enhance patient care, comfort, and efficiency — right here in the heart of the community.

The project was born out of a simple but powerful mission: to provide exceptional, advanced surgical care close to home for the people of Crisp County and surrounding areas.

“We wanted to create a space that truly puts our patients and community first,” said April Dukes, CNO at Crisp Regional Hospital. “Farther away isn’t always better — sometimes the best care is the care that’s closest to home.”

Why the New Surgery Center

The new addition wasn’t about adding services — it was about improving the experience for patients, families, and staff.

Previously, surgery patients shared registration and waiting spaces with outpatient services. The new center now provides a dedicated entrance, registration area, and waiting room designed exclusively for surgical patients and their families.

This thoughtful redesign streamlines the process from pre-op to recovery, reducing stress and improving flow for everyone involved.

“It’s really a one-stop shop now,” said Justin Beatty, OR Manager. “Everything a patient needs for surgery — pre-op testing, registration, consultation, and recovery — happens right here in one convenient area. It’s made the process easier for patients and more efficient for our staff.”

New Features and Facility Enhancements

The new Crisp Regional Surgery Center offers:

• Spacious, modern operating rooms — nearly double the size of the previous ones

• Advanced robotic-assisted technology for orthopedic, general, urology, and gynecological surgeries

• Natural light and open design to create a bright, welcoming space for both staff and patients

• Designated waiting and consultation areas for improved family comfort and privacy

• Expanded sterile processing department with separate clean and dirty elevators for enhanced infection control and efficiency

• New on-call sleep rooms to support staff readiness and wellness

Surgeries and Procedures Performed

The new center supports a wide range of procedures that many patients are surprised to learn are available locally, including:

• Orthopedic surgeries (total joint replacements, rotator cuff repairs, fracture care)

• Robotic-assisted general and gynecological surgeries

• Urology procedures, including minimally invasive prostate treatments

• Vascular procedures

• Endoscopy services (colonoscopies, EGDs, and more)
